Level 2 Award in Supervising Staff Safely (QCF)

The vast majority of occupational injuries and incidents of ill-health can be avoided by good health and safety management. With this in mind,

the British Safety Council offers the Level 2 Award in Supervising Staff Safely, a nationally-recognised qualification aimed at those with

responsibility for the health and safety of others.

The qualification is ideal for supervisors, team leaders, department heads and junior managers, providing them with the practical knowledge

and understanding necessary to their role in promoting health and safety in the workplace.

During the course students take on the role of newly-appointed supervisors at a fictitious organisation and, through a series of interactive

exercises, tackling many of the issues that they will face in their own workplace.

The exercise is facilitated by an experienced British Safety Council tutor who injects their own expertise in order to consolidate knowledge and

understanding.

Above all, the course aims to equip students with the skills and confidence to effectively manage day-to-day health and safety in their

workplace.

On completion of the course, delegates will be able to:

Apply the legal requirements that relate to supervising staff safely

Understand the objectives of management systems to support health and safety in the workplace

•

Examine workplace procedures to minimise the threat of hazards and risks

•

Carry out health and safety monitoring activities in the workplace.

While the Level 2 Award in Supervising Staff Safely is a stand-alone qualification, it also provides a progression route to the Level 3 Certificate in

Occupational Safety and Health, aimed at managers with responsibility for organisational health and safety and, further, to the Level 6 Diploma

in Occupational Safety and Health, aimed at full-time health and safety managers and practitioners.

Assessment

The Level 2 Award in Supervising Staff Safely course is assessed by means of an online exam. This relates directly to the delegate’s workplace

and tests the application of learning in a practical context.
