Module 3: Professional Drivers First Aid
Course Number: CRS6070/1259
After this course the driver will have a greater understanding of basic life support, CPR & First Aid kits. The driver will be introduced to basic
first aid skills ensuring that the EMS are called and professional medical help gained. To get drivers thinking about possible dangers, therefore
reducing the chance of an accident happening. To ensure all drivers know the importance of immediate professional care and how to activate it.
To be able to deal with the following conditions: Choking, Spinal Injury, Serious Bleeding, Minor Injuries, Seizures, Anaphylactic, Shock, Burns
and Scalds. To have an understanding of breaks, crush injuries and head injuries. To be able to understand the dangers of dealing with an
accident on your own and near a road.
Morning Session
First Aid at Work Regulations and Rules
Fears of first aid, barriers and initial assessment
Working on your own and roadside emergencies
Unconscious breathing and Recovery position
The heart, sudden cardiac arrest, heart attacks and CPR.
Includes one rescuer CPR, chest only compressions and CPR handover to a second rescuer
Afternoon Session
Adult choking, conscious and unconscious
Serious bleeding management, wounds, minor injuries and First Aid kits and the Driver
Shock, continued from the above exercises
Spinal injury management
Burns and scalds
Anaphylactic Shock and allergies
Seizures and Epilepsy
Breaks, Fractures, Dislocations
Crush Injuries and crush hazards
Eye Injuries
Course evaluation and closure
