Asbestos Awareness
This course has been developed to meet the standard required by the HSE. It has been designed to comply with the latest Health and Safety
requirements regarding mandatory asbestos awareness training for certain trades and tasks.
The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 require mandatory training for any person who performs maintenance or works on buildings which
includes domestic property, schools, colleges, hospitals, offices, factories, shops, churches, village halls or any other building built before the
year 2000
Who should attend?
This course is aimed at anyone in a trade or industry who may come into contact with asbestos during their work and specifically, builders,
electricians, plumbers, carpenters, painters and decorators, telecom engineers, alarm installers, general maintenance staff, and anyone who
works on or disturbs the fabric of a building. This course would also be beneficial for Reactive Maintenance Managers, Housing Officers
Building Surveyors or anyone who has to enter buildings where a risk of asbestos may be present

Types, uses and risks of asbestos containing materials in buildings and plant

General emergency procedures for accidental release of asbestos dust

How to avoid the risk from asbestos

How to understand asbestos registers
Objectives:
The successful completion of this training and assessment will enable candidates to understand
•
The health and safety requirements placed on employers and employees
•
Hazard and risk and the main causes of harm to workers
•
Health, safety and welfare provisions in the workplace
•
The importance of following safe systems of work, procedures and rules.

Certification
Assessment is by a multiple choice test upon where delegates are awarded a certificate and I.D. Card.
